About Ashley

I am a graduate student at Colorado State University, pursuing a Professional Science Master’s in Zoo, Aquarium, and Animal Shelter Management, which I’ll complete in May 2025. I have a Bachelor’s in Animal Science from Cal Poly Pomona in 2021 and gained hands-on experience during a wildlife care internship at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park, where I primarily bottle-fed hoofstock neonates. Growing up, I always enjoyed training my pets, rode horses for 19 years, and have a deep love for all things Disney, which is probably why I want to be able to put on events to benefit animals in zoos. After graduation, I plan to pursue roles in events or development with non-profit animal organizations.

Experience

Graduate Teaching Assistant at Colorado State University (Jan. 2024 – Present)

Teaching 48 undergraduates in entry-level biology labs involves guiding hands-on experiments, fostering critical thinking, and building foundational scientific skills in a dynamic, collaborative setting. I have learned to adjust my teaching styles to each individual class to make sure they are learning in a way that works best for them. 

Receptionist Supervisor at Stonecreek Animal Hospital (June 2022 – Aug. 2023)

As a receptionist supervisor in a veterinary clinic, I oversaw the front desk team, ensuring compassionate client service, efficient scheduling, and seamless communication. I supported staff in managing appointments, handling emergencies, and creating a welcoming environment for pets and their owners. This position involved conflict mitigation, as well as training new employees after being a part of the hiring process.
